Manchester United / 2007–08
His highest-scoring United season paired extraordinary individual output with the Premier League and Champions League titles. United also won the August 2007 Community Shield.

United exited the FA Cup against Portsmouth and the League Cup against Coventry. The Club World Cup triumph came in December 2008, during 2008/09. Keeping these dates separate makes the achievement clearer.
The 31 league goals brought the Premier League Golden Boot and European Golden Shoe. Ronaldo received the 2008 Ballon d’Or and FIFPro World Player of the Year. Those awards have their own calendar dates; they are not additional team trophies.

UEFA’s old Ballon d’Or article says seven Champions League goals, conflicting with the eight in the season statistics. This page uses eight and shows the discrepancy rather than repeating it.
Context makes the record
League tables measure a domestic season. Domestic cups and super cups are separate. The Champions League is a club competition. Portugal goals belong to national-team football; senior internationals include recognised friendlies.
EURO “finals” means the whole final tournament, not only its last match. Champions League competition-proper totals exclude qualifying. Keep those scopes attached to every claim.
A historical first remains a first after another player follows. A shared record is not unique. “Best season” needs a criterion: 2007/08 leads his United goal tally; it is not his highest-scoring season at every club.
Madrid credits him with a club season-high 61 goals; his 2013/14 Champions League campaign produced 17. In Saudi Arabia, 35 league goals in 2023/24 set the competition’s season record at that time. Madrid ↗ · Saudi Pro League ↗
